LAST week's runner up and perennial bridesmaid Lindsay Baldock finally broke through to win Thursday’ss 9 hole event.

Saturday saw 16 golfers contest a stroke round.

Winner in A grade and St Arnaud Physio best score of the day was Scott Wright with an excellent round of 74/5/69 from David Lanyon on 80/8/72 on a countback from Rob Batters 86/14/72.

In B grade, Trevor Stewart was a runaway winner with 89/18/71 from Ivan Jackson 91/16/75.

Nearest the pins were David Lanyon on the 6th, Tubby Drendel on the 8th, Chris Campbell on his favourite 10th and John Goode on the Weir’s IGA sponsored 18th.

Two matches were played in the singles knockout with Mark McGrath edging out Tubby Drendel 2 up and Ivan Jackson overcoming the old master John Nevill also two up.

Ivan’s win in the match and runner up gives him bragging rites over hockey playing son Duncan by one shot to be this week’s best player in the Jackson house.

The golf club would also like to congratulate Duncan on his selection in the Australian A hockey side to play China. Well done Duncan we hope you go well.

On Sunday Bill Rodger, Scott Wright, David Lanyon, John Goode and Ernie Scilini travelled to Charlton to contest Kara Kara golf pennant.

Wycheproof were the winners from Birchip in second and St Arnaud third.

  • THE past two weeks have seen good numbers of ladies enjoying the fine weather and good condition of the course.

On May 13, winner of the day’s event and May’s monthly medal was Brenda Proctor.

Runner-up was Jenny Lanyon on a count back from Mary Elliott.

Nearest the pins - Jenny on the 6th and Sharyn Erwin on the IGA 8th.

On Wednesday May 20 the winner was Alison Fahey from Rhonda Pole runner-up. Nearest the pins 6th Alison Fahey and IGA 8th Brenda Proctor.

Winner of the Nine hole event was Marilyn Knights from runner-up Marg Mc Rae.

The club championships begin today May 27.
