FLAG favourite Marnoo has been awarded the 2025-2026 Wimmera Mallee Cricket Association premiership after rain scuttled efforts to play the season decider at the weekend.

Undefeated throughout the home and away season, Marnoo survived a challenge from Birchip final round, winning by just four runs as the Swans staked a late season claim to the flag.

Marnoo at home to the Swans for Saturday’s grand final and players and officials spent the morning blow-drying the pitch run-up areas of a ground sodden by rain in the previous 24 hours.

More rain early afternoon saw blowers put back in the sheds and the match officially postponed to Sunday.

However, further rain forced abandonment of the grand final.

Under association rules, the flag was awarded to Marnoo based on its home and away season ladder finish.
