THE Charlton Golf Club has been left broken - literally and figuritively - after it was targeted by thieves last week.

Pieces of the club’s history were taken after offender/s broke into the building at around 4am last Wednesday.

There was “significant damage” done, including smashed windows, broken walls, flooring and cupboards.

Club president Jamey Soulsby said there were also a number of items taken as well.

“The thieves stole our safe, which contained over 100 years of the club’s history, along with a Dyson vacuum cleaner, a Makita cordless leaf blower, security system and various tools.

“The safe was 4ft x 2ft, creamy colour. Please keep an eye out for it.”

He said that while most items were replaceable, the history wasn’t.

“ This loss hurts deeply,” he said.

“Not just the physical damage, but the loss of irreplaceable items that tell the story of our club.

“If anyone saw or heard anything suspicious in the early hours of this morning, or has any information that may assist, please contact Victoria Police or reach out to the club directly.”

He said he was grateful for the support the club had received.

“Thank you to our members and the wider Charlton community for your ongoing support.

If you have information that could assist you can report anonymously to Crime Stoppers at crimestoppersvic.com.au or by calling on 1800 333 000.
