The best of days in pool for Lowe
The local club youngster claimed the prestigious Leigh Amos Memorial Trophy for best performing 12/13 years male swimmer across the four 100-metre strokes.

LEWIS Lowe headlined a superb day for the Piran-has when swimmers from across the region competed at the St Arnaud pool on Saturday.
The local club youngster claimed the prestigious Leigh Amos Memorial Trophy for best performing 12/13 years male swimmer across the four 100-metre strokes.
Lowe’s consistency and strength across the day’s program capped off another outstanding team performance at the club’s second swim meet of the season.
He finished with one first and two seconds, also recording a massive 7.02-second personal best in his 100-metre butterfly.
The meet attracted around 100 swimmers from St Arnaud, Horsham, Ararat, Warracknabeal, Bendigo, Kerang, Maryborough and Ascot Vale, competing across a full program of events in ideal racing conditions.
The Piranhas produced a strong team performance, highlighted by outstanding results, first-time competitors and a host of personal best times.
Jesse Amos enjoyed a dominant meet, competing in four events and winning four first places. Alice Batters, a new swimmer to competition, took part in three events, gaining valuable racing experience, while Harper Boyle showed great enthusiasm in her first-ever swim meet.
Leanne Burke had a consistent day in the pool, competing in four events and finishing with one first, two seconds and one third. Belinda Burke competed in her favourite backstroke events, while Declan Kay had a busy program of seven events, winning four firsts and two seconds.
Leo Kay also competed in seven events, showing great determination across the day. Emily Kirk competed in three events at her first-ever swim meet, while Harry Kirk swam in four events and finished with two seconds. Harry recorded a personal best in his freestyle, dropping an impressive 5.43 seconds after just two weeks of hard work at training.
Matilda Kirk also competed in three events at her first-ever swim meet. Austin Lowe delivered a perfect performance, winning all three of his events.
Bonnie McNally competed in three events and won one first place. Grace McNally competed in four events, finishing with one second, and produced a very fast 50m freestyle, dropping 6.09 seconds.
Jack McNally competed in four events, winning one second and two thirds, and achieved personal bests in all four races, highlighted by an outstanding 10.88-second improvement in his 100m breaststroke. Maddie McNally competed in four events and won two thirds.
Chad Polkinghorne competed in three events and won one second, achieving a remarkable 35.64-second personal best in his 50m backstroke from just two weeks earlier. Edward Sanderson also competed in three events and improved his 50m backstroke by 14.70 seconds. William Sanderson competed in two events.
Eliza Scarce competed in six events and recorded two firsts, two seconds and two thirds. Heidi Start had an exceptional meet, competing in ten events and finishing with nine first places and one second.
Stacey Taylor competed in four events and won one third. Milla Taylor-Rogers competed in eight events and finished with one first and three seconds.
Leon Torney competed in two events at his first-ever swim meet, while William Torney competed in three events. Finn Wilson competed in five events and produced a strong overall performance, finishing with one first, three seconds and one third.
The Piranhas also impressed in the relay events. The mixed 9-and-under freestyle relay finished second, the mixed open freestyle relay won first place, the mixed 15-and-under freestyle relay finished second, and the mixed 11-and-under freestyle relay finished second. In the medley relays, the mixed 15-and-under team finished first, the mixed 11-and-under team finished third, and the mixed open medley relay also claimed first place.
The Leigh Amos Memorial Trophy for best performing 12/13 years female swimmer was won by Horsham’s Leila Hudson, while the Heather Phillips Memorial Trophy for 10/11 years aggregate points across the 50-metre events was awarded to Horsham’s Kaeden Beaton.
