Support more safe housing for violence survivors at movie fundraiser
From 2pm on Sunday, the cinema will show Midwinter Break, which follows longtime retired couple Stella and Gerry, who realise that their relationship has reached a crossroads while on holiday in Amsterdam.

YOU will have the chance to ensure women and children trying to leave domestic violence situations through this week’s movie event.
The St Arnaud Community Cinema will host a fundraiser to help fund safe homes for families through the Red Hearts Movement.
“I know there would be a lot of people who have been touched by this, so it was an important event for us to hold,” one of the organisers said.
From 2pm on Sunday, the cinema will show Midwinter Break, which follows longtime retired couple Stella and Gerry, who realise that their relationship has reached a crossroads while on holiday in Amsterdam.
After so much time and so many memories, long-held promises and deeply concealed wounds threaten to come to light and force them to confront their future.
The film stars Lesley Manville, Ciaran Hinds, Niamh Cusack, Julie Lamberton, Marco Horta Lopes, David Gallacher, Leila Laaraj and Ed Sayer.
One reviewer said: “While Manville and Hinds are every bit as wonderful as we expect, there’s so much more to connect with and absorb in Polly Findlay’s extraordinary directorial debut. And it will stick with you well after the credits roll.”
After the movie, guest speakers from organisations such as Orange Door and Red Hearts will present and provide information on their offering and support options to the crowd.
This will then be followed by an afternoon tea,
Tickets cost $18 per person.
