Students get healthy eating tips from EWHS
Part of the four-week program, which supported by VicHealth under the “Regional Sport Program”, the Year 9 students had a say through information collected from a survey conducted by the Mallee Sports Assembly.

EAST Wimmera Health Service (EWHS) staff were out and about last week, teaching students about the importance of making healthy food choices.
High school students from Birchip P-12 College had a visit from EWHS Health Promotion staff members Stacey Keller and Maddie Hendy as part of a new program facilitated by Mallee Sports Assembly in conjunction with the school.
Part of the four-week program, which supported by VicHealth under the “Regional Sport Program”, the Year 9 students had a say through information collected from a survey conducted by the Mallee Sports Assembly.
Ms Keller and Ms Hendy delivered “a very interesting and informative session”
“It including information and a fun activity on the five food groups that are required for a healthy diet and to drink plenty of water Mallee Sports Assembly project manager Rhonda Allan said.
“Stacey had handouts on this information so the students could take home to follow.
“This session was complemented with an informative power point presentation.
To conclude the session, all the students had the opportunity to make their own healthy smoothies with frozen berries and mangos on the smoothie bike.
“It was a fun way to make a healthy treatwhile exercising on the bike,” Mrs Allan said.
There was also a visit from instructor Phill Zdybel, who took the students through self defence techniques.
