Spirited resumption for Country
Conditions were ideal — sunny skies, only a light breeze, and greens running true, quick and in excellent order.

The Saturday Pennant season resumed on the weekend, and both Saint Arnaud Country Club divisions delivered a spirited return to competition. It was clear the bowlers were eager to be back on the greens, with skippers urging on their teams and the players responding with enthusiasm and purpose.
There were plenty of quality bowls delivered across both divisions, including several chalkers as players found the jack with precision throughout the day. Conditions were ideal — sunny skies, only a light breeze, and greens running true, quick and in excellent order.
With three rounds remaining, the next few weeks promise to shape the final ladder. Several positions remain up for grabs, and every rink will carry increased importance as clubs push toward the finals.
It was the first game back after the Christmas break for the St Arnaud Country Club in the Midweek Pennant competition, with the side travelling to Charlton for the opening round of the new year.
As always, Charlton Bowls Club provided a warm welcome, with bowlers enjoying beautiful sunny conditions and very little wind throughout the day.
The match was closely contested in the morning session and, by the lunch break, Charlton were finding the going tough, holding the advantage on just one rink.
The afternoon session saw St Arnaud begin to make inroads, gaining ground on one rink, holding on for a win on another, conceding one rink to Charlton and recording a draw on the remaining rink. Charlton defeated St Arnaud Country 78 - 9. Regardless of the results, all players were pleased to be back out and enjoying competitive bowls again.
