However, St Arnaud’s depth proved crucial, with Sam Male a standout, teaming effectively with Jason Rowe and Bailey Durward to secure important wins.
Jake Male also played a key role, featuring in multiple successful pairings, winning the section 57-30.
Birchip’s ladies were strong, putting together a great performance to post an impressive 60-36 win.
Fiona Best and Julie Coffey combined strongly, while Steph Coffey and Sandie Richmond were also consistent contributors.
For St Arnaud, Alex Baldwin and Trudie Jackson battled hard, while Caitlyn Goode and Sheridan Goode picked up valuable games in a tough section.
The mixed doubles were evenly split at 53–53, reflecting just how tight the match was.
Birchip saw good results from combinations like Tim McClelland and Julie Coffey and Russell Christie and Kellie Matthews, while St Arnaud were well served by Rogan Hando and Keegan Amos and Matthew Goode and Andrea Johns, who helped keep things level.
A very even team performance from Birchip that just fell short, while St Arnaud made the most of their chances in a well-earned win.
