Residential spirit to remember
The Canterbury Street display features a range of poppies made out of the bottoms of soft drink bottles, paper plates and more.
LYN Box has spent time every year since 2023 setting up a display in her front garden.
All as her way of remembering the fallen on Anzac Day.
But there’s something special about this display - it’s all made out of recycled materials.
“I’ve always been interested in Anzac Day and while I don’t have a connection myself, my husband’s father was a soldier,” Mrs Box said.
“We didn’t have recycling facilities locally back then, so I thought it was a nice way of not just sending it all to land fill.”
The Canterbury Street display features a range of poppies made out of the bottoms of soft drink bottles, paper plates and more.
“I’ve got a lot of red poppies naturally, but I’ve included some purple ones this year to represent the animals we’ve lost too,” Mrs Box said.
She said it takes her about half an hour to put together and is able to re-use elements from the year before.
