POLICE work is diverse and often unseen, with officers responding to a wide range of situations every day.

At the heart of this work is a simple priority: ensuring members of our community feel safe in their own homes and neighbourhoods.

When behaviour impacts the safety and wellbeing of others, police will take appropriate action.

Last Wednesday, St Arnaud police arrested a 44-year-old St Arnaud man following multiple reports of alleged antisocial behaviour affecting nearby residents.

After investigation, the man was interviewed in relation to alleged offences including making threats to kill, use of a carriage service to harass or menace, stalking, discharging a missile, and contravening a Personal Safety Intervention Order.

He has been charged and bailed to appear before the St Arnaud Magistrates’ Court on March 12.

Stolen vehicle and burglary at Slaty Creek

A WHITE Holden Rodeo utility was stolen from open farmland on Slaty Creek Road, Slaty Creek overnight on Sunday.

Police are also investigating a burglary at a rural property near Slaty Creek.

A property Nelson Road was accessed recently where multiple items were stolen from locked containers.

Theft from car, items found

A VEHICLE parked in the yard of a Napier Street, St Arnaud property was rummaged through between 2:30am and 3:00am last Sunday.

Items removed from the vehicle were located nearby.

Operation Amity

OVER the Australia Day long weekend, police will be out in force for Operation Amity, a state-wide road policing operation conducted from January 23 to 26.

Police will be targeting speeding, impaired drivers, fatigue, distraction, vulnerable road users and seatbelt compliance.
