Police investigate after body found in home
The man, who is yet to be formally identified, was found dead inside a property on Charlton Road earlier this month.
POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in St Arnaud.
The man, who is yet to be formally identified, was found dead inside a property on Charlton Road earlier this month.
The death is not believed to be suspicious.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
Main street assault
A YOUNG man was allegedly assaulted and had his hat stolen while sitting with friends on Napier Street earlier this month.
Police arrived and arrested a 21-year-old Horsham man in relation to the incident. He has been charged with assault-related offences and is set to appear at the St Arnaud Magistrates’ Court.
Motorbike Stolen
A CHILD’S motorbike was stolen from the front veranda of a property in Gower East between April 1 and 5.

Property damage
A ROLLER door at the St Arnaud Town Hall was damaged sometime between 2 April and 6 April 2026.

Learner done for drugs
AT 6pm on March 18, St Arnaud police saw a white Toyota van with a defective taillight travelling through the northern roundabout on Napier Street.
The vehicle took the roundabout wide and corrected abruptly, prompting police to stop the driver on Bewley Street. A 20-year-old Donald woman returned a positive roadside drug test and refused to do a follow up test at the police station.
Checks revealed she only held a learners permit and was driving without a fully licensed supervising driver.
Police also found illicit drugs in a search of her vehicle.
The driver has been interviewed and is facing multiple charges including: learner driver without supervision, positive oral fluid test, refusal to accompany police and failure to display ‘L’ plates.
She will face court at a later date.
Speeding driver caught
POLICE patrolling the St Arnaud North area on March 27 at approximately 2:30pm, saw a vehicle travelling on Banyena Road at an alleged speed exceeding 130km/h in a 100km/h zone.
The driver, a 55-year-old women from Lilydale, was issued a $560 fine and received a three-month licence suspension.
