One hurt in blaze
Firefighters used breathing apparatus (BA) to safely operate in hazardous conditions, with their swift actions and teamwork a credit to all involved.
ONE person has been taken to hospital after a fire ripped through a building south of St Arnaud late last week.
CFA volunteer brigades from Carapooee, Kooreh and St Arnaud along with a support vehicle responded to a building fire on Cemetery Road, St Arnaud last Friday morning.
CFA crews responded within minutes and upon arrival of the first brigade, the building was already fully involved in fire.

Fire Incident Controller Simon Burge said conditions were challenging for firefighters, with several tankers and a Breathing Apparatus (BA) support vehicle from Donald required to assist in the firefighters
”Firefighters did an exceptional job under difficult conditions,” he said.
Emergency services confirmed a person was treated at the scene by Ambulance Victoria for smoke inhalation before being transported to St Arnaud hospital.
Victoria Police and fire investigators remained on scene throughout the day.
Firefighters on scene said: “We acknowledge the efforts of all emergency services involved and thank our dedicated volunteers for their continued commitment to protecting the community.”
