Not-so-hoppy Easter for drink driver
St Arnaud police stopped a 45-year-old man at a testing site on Kings Avenue where he returned a positive alcohol reading.
THERE were no chocolates for one driver who was caught driving over the legal limit over the Easter long weekend.
St Arnaud police stopped a 45-year-old man at a testing site on Kings Avenue where he returned a positive alcohol reading.
He was taken to the police station to be tested again.
It wasn’t good news for the driver.
This came back positive again with an evidentiary reading of 0.059.
He will appear before the St Arnaud Magistrates Court at a later date.
Preece Street assault
TWO men entered a Preece Street property without permission on March 31.
While they were in the house, an they got into an altercation with someon inside and the victim was assaulted before their phone was stolen.
Stolen items found
POLICE have recovered a number of stolen items taken from a Slaty Creek property.
Offenders forced their way into a locked shipping container on the Wardle Road property between March 15 and 25.
Buildings targeted by theives
ITEMS were stolen from a Clyde Street address after a person broke into the property on March 25.
A person also used force to gain access to a shed on Blinkbonnie Road, St Arnaud.
Police are reminding residents to take simple steps to protect their property:
Lock all doors, windows, sheds and vehicles
Ensure your home is well-lit at night, including sensor lighting
Keep valuable items out of sight and consider marking property
Secure rural properties with gates and regularly check outbuildings
Install CCTV or alarm systems where possible
Report suspicious people or vehicles in your area promptly
These precautions can reduce risk of becoming a victim.
