North Central Football League Round 2 Summaries
After two rounds of football in the North Central Football League it is quite clear that the grand finalists from 2019 are again going to be major players in 2021.
Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers unfurled their premiership pennants from 2019 and in front of their large gathering they showed no mercy on the Charlton Navy Blues getting home by a huge margin and the prediction is that this type of result may happen to other teams as the season progresses.
Birchip-Watchem made the trip to Boort and they like the Tigers last week were not going to let the new look Boort cause any upset and while they did get the job done it took them until after half time to shake off the Magpies before running out good winners by just under ten goals.
At Donaldson Park the Redbacks got off to an impressive start against the St. Arnaud Saints.
The Redbacks attacked from the opening bounce and kept the Saints scoreless in the opening term and to just four points by the main break.
The Saints copped an early blow when one of their top recruits in ruckman Harry Crone suffered a serious knee injury.
St Arnaud was able get a couple of goals in the third term, but they were unable to reduce the Redbacks lead and finally went down by around ten goals.
Wycheproof-Narraport played host to Donald and the two sides were neck and neck right up to the end of the third term where the Demons finally put their noses in front to hold a four-point lead.
In the final term the younger legs of Donald played a major role in getting the Royal Blues over the line.
At full time, the Royal Blues who had a draw last week kept their slate clean when they took the game and four points by forty-six points.
Boort v Birchip-Watchem
Boort were at home to the Birchip-Watchem Bulls and after suffering a big loss against the reigning premiers in the opening round were all keen to produce a better performance against the Bulls but also were aware that this would not come easy against this star-studded line-up.
Birchip-Watchem 13-17, 95 defeated Boort 6-3, 39.

Sea Lake-Nandaly v. Charlton
Sea Lake-Nandaly showed no signs of a premiership hangover on Saturday, a bitter-sweet occasion for the Tiger faithful.
It smashed Charlton by 133 points after observing a minute’s silence in tribute to several much-loved members who have passed on, including the club’s immediate past president, Dennis Cox, and unfurled three North-Central football premiership pennants won in 2019.
Final scores: Sea Lake-Nandaly 24.15 (159) d. Charlton 3.8 (26).

Wycheproof-Narraport v. Donald
For the first three quarters on Saturday, there were never more than a couple of goals separating Wycheproof-Narraport and Donald on the immaculately presented Wycheproof oval.
Donald had maintained a narrow lead over the Demons until almost the final break, only to surrender that advantage as they changed ends for the last quarter.
From then on, however, it was Donald’s game.
Final scores: Donald 10.9, Wycheproof-Narraport 6.7.

Wedderburn v St. Arnaud
The Redbacks needed to repeat their first half of round one if they were to be a chance in the contest with the Saints.
This they were able to do as they flew the boxes and had come to play from the first bounce.
