NETBALL: Plenty of opportunities on court
CHARLTON netball had the better share of play in the first quarter of the 14 and Under B game against Donald.

Maddie, Molly, Lila and Lilymae moved the ball well through the attacking third, creating plenty of opportunities at the post.
The defensive combination of Alodia, Marlly and Yazmin continued to make things difficult for Donald in the second quarter.
While the opportunities at the post were more limited, shooting accuracy improved.
The third and fourth quarters were tightly contested between the two teams.
A real highlight of the match was Marlly scoring her first ever goal—an exciting moment for the team.

The Navies 14 and Under A team did an excellent job of putting their training into practice, resulting in some really strong passages of play.
Rosie and Maddie combined particularly well through the centre, while Lily positioned herself effectively in the goal circle to provide a reliable target up forward.
At the defensive end, Arlie and Marley faced a challenging match-up against a tall goaling combination, with Isabella providing valuable support through strong defensive efforts on the wing.
Sophie’s defensive pressure was outstanding, taking numerous intercepts across each quarter.
Charlton’s second half was especially encouraging, with the team scoring five goals in both the third and fourth quarters.
This was a great result, particularly given the number of positional changes made heading into the final quarter.

THE girls moved well through the attacking end and made the most of their opportunities, shooting accurately when it counted in 17 and Under A.
Taylah Giles had a standout game with strong drives and great movement in the ring, consistently creating options.
The defensive unit worked hard all game, adapting well with different rotations.
Remmy Wright stood out with multiple intercepts, applying strong pressure and reading the play well.
After a slow first quarter, the team showed great resilience to fight their way back into the game.

CHARLTON welcomed back Jac Leslie, Ellie O’Connor and Tahlijia Sheahan into the C Grade team against Donald this weekend. The team came out strong and competitive early on in the game to even come away winning the second quarter. The game was still within reach by the end of the third quarter. Donald, however proved too strong in the end having a strong fourth quarter to come away with the win.
Charlton’s defensive end once again created many turn-overs where the team was able to capitalise on the scoreboard.
Goalers again had a solid performance to score 30 against a strong Donald outfit, improving on the overall score from last week’s game.
Again, still with moving pieces and combinations to try as new players are added to the team, this C Grade squad will be a team to watch as the weeks progress.

THE Scoreline reflected a steady build from Donald, maintaining control throughout the B Grade game.
Defensively, Charlton showed clear improvement, with changes across the court helping to slow Donald’s scoring at times.
Stronger pressure through the midcourt and circle created more contests and forced a number of turnovers. Charlton continued trialling different combinations, making the most of depth and exploring options across multiple positions.
At times, new connections in attack took time to settle, impacting timing and flow into the circle. Small errors under pressure proved costly, allowing Donald to convert turnovers into scoreboard pressure.
Positive signs defensively and with versatility across the team, providing a solid foundation to build consistency moving forward.

DONALD’S height and speed across the court proved difficult to contain in A Grade, particularly through the midcourt and into the circle.
Charlton continued trialling new combinations, working to find the right balance and connections in attack.
At times, Donald struggled with Charlton’s attacking flow and timing, impacting our ability to convert centre passes and turnovers.
Small but crucial errors under pressure allowed Donald to gain momentum and extend their lead. Despite the result, there were patches of strong defensive pressure and effort across the court.
Focus moving forward will be on tightening decision-making, improving cohesion in attack, and building consistency across four quarters.
