NETBALL: Solid combinations, challenges and competition
Charlton’s defensive combination of Alodia, Isabella, Arlie and Molly tracked their opponents extremely well causing a lot of turnovers and they read the play well to take many intercepts throughout the game.
THE 14 and Under B game between Charlton and Wedderburn was highly competitive, as the teams were very similar in player sizing.

Maddie, in the centre controlled the tempo and directed play. Yazmin played the wing attack roll perfectly, gaining just about every centre pass for the game.
Lily and Lila combined well in the shooting circle and scored off most opportunities. A very positive game from our girls.

CHARLTON applied defensive pressure right down the court in 14 and Under A, which led to them gaining many turnovers. The circle defensive duo of Marley and Lily starved their opponents of scoring opportunities in the first quarter.
The second quarter saw much of the same, Sophie was strong in the centre and Rosie finished well at the post. Charlton made some positional changes in the third quarter, which brought Maddie out to join Isabella at the line, and moved Marley into the goal circle, Rosie to the centre and Sophie to join Lila and Lily in defence.
The girls took a bit to get used to the changes, however repeated intercepts from Rosie in the mid court and great teamwork, saw us continue to add to the scoreboard.
A great game by all girls.

THE girls in the goal circle worked well together. They shot and rebounded really well.
Lila S had wonderful drives down the court in WA and fed beautifully into the goalers. Defenders had a great game gaining many intercepts and turnovers.
Overall, the girls worked hard on applying a strong full court defensive pressure which forced errors and allowed us to gain intercepts or turnovers.

A GREAT effort by C grade this week who competed strongly for the first half of thegame against the Redbacks, unfortunately Wedderburn were too strong with Charlton going down by 20 goals.
Charlton fought hard for four quarters keeping the pressure up to Wedderburn forcing many defensive turn-overs and showed plenty of potential in the goaling circle.
Charlton welcomes new players Mary-Anne Pollard, Abby Fry and Nat Dawson to the team and we are thrilled to have Liz Riley back to the court after returning from a serious knee injury.

B GRADE faced a tough challenge against a well-drilled Wedderburn team.
The opposition’s consistency made it hard to gain momentum, but our girls continued to compete throughout the game.
There were encouraging signs, especially with effort and intent, and the experience highlighted what’s needed to take the next step.

CHARLTON A Grade came up against a very polished Wedderburn side, who showed their class across all four quarters.
There were still positives, with some strong passages of play and moments of defensive intensity.
