Local photographer’s ‘intuitive’ experimental work on show

CHARLTON’S Courthouse Gallery will host the debut photographic exhibition of Charlton’s Brigitta Beaty when As I See It opens on Saturday, June 6.
The exhibition features a collection of photographic works developed over recent years, showcasing Brigitta’s intuitive and experimental approach to image-making.
Combining dramatic light, texture and layered composition, the works draw inspiration from both natural landscapes and industrial scenes, transforming everyday subjects into atmospheric and thought-provoking images.
Brigitta’s interest in photography began during secondary school where she first learned black-and-white film developing in the darkroom.
That early experience sparked a fascination with photography, not simply as a record of reality, but as a creative and interpretive art form.
Largely self-taught, Brigitta describes her process as instinctive and emotionally driven, allowing experimentation and spontaneity to shape the final image.
Gallery Secretary, Carolyn Olive, said the committee was delighted to be showcasing Brigitta’s work.
“Brigitta has been a wonderful supporter and volunteer at the gallery, so it is especially exciting to be exhibiting her work,” she said.
The official opening will be held at 3pm on June 6. The gallery will be open over the long weekend from10am to 4pm and will continue on Sundays until July 12 from 11am to 3pm. Entry by donation.
