St Arnaud and district residents had an opportunity to get up and personal with a range of wildlife during school holiday activities at Northern Grampians Libraries.

About 200 people attended Tyron’s Wildlife’s ‘Nature Untamed’ shows at St Arnaud and Stawell branches, which were captivating for young and old alike.

Daniel ‘The Viking’ was informative and well-spoken, encouraging participants to touch the animals.

The crowd favourite was a crocodile called ‘Splashy’.

Organisers said the feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with feedback ranging from, ‘That was fantastic’ and ‘How wonderful to get to see and touch Aussie animals’ from the two Brits in the audience, to ‘They feel so different – the Black-headed Python (Aspidites melanocephalus) was so smooth and the stumpy tail so rough’.

School holiday activities continue this week, with a NAIDOC Week-themed story time session at St Arnaud branch tomorrow at 10.30am.

Library patrons can also enjoy a wildlife-themed scavenger hunt for the rest of the week.
