PERFECT conditions set the stage for an exciting start to the under 14s football season at Charlton Park, where the St Arnaud Saints delivered a commanding performance over the Charlton Navies.
From the opening bounce, the Saints looked sharp, controlling possession and setting up play across the ground.
Captain, Lewis Lowe led from the front, booting the first goal of the match and setting the tone early. He later added another to cap off a strong individual performance.
St Arnaud’s forward line proved potent throughout the game, with Sam Greenaway and Maddox Stewart each contributing two goals, while Issac Johns, Lewis Ezard and Patrick Zsigmond all added singles to the scoreboard.
The Saints’ ability to convert opportunities kept the pressure firmly on Charlton.
A disciplined and resolute Saints defence ensured the ball spent the majority of the match in their attacking half, limiting the Navies’ chances to respond.
Charlton’s only major came in the third quarter, with Hudson McGrath managing to break through for their lone goal.
Despite moments of effort from the Navies, the Saints maintained control across all four quarters.
The Saints showcased strong teamwork in their first outing of the season.
