Look out for snakes over long weekend
AMBULANCE Victoria is urging residents to keep an eye out for snakes this long weekend.
From November 1, 2025 to February 21, AV paramedics and first responders attended 17 incidents in the Grampians area.
Snake bite prevention and tips:
Victoria’s snake season is typically between September and April
Always give snakes a wide berth and allow them the opportunity to flee
All snake bites should be considered a medical emergency
AdvertisementMost (but not all) Victorian snakes are venomous
Do not attempt to catch or kill a snake yourself
Bite marks may not be obvious – seek help immediately and call Triple Zero (000) if you suspect you have been bitten.
Dry autumn extends bulk water carrier pilot
A TRIAL program putting bulk water carriers across Victoria will be extended with the fire risk set to continue into the autumn.
Launched in October, the program saw 19 mobile bulk water carriers, strategically placed across Victoria, including Wycheproof, to enable access to most fires within 60 minutes drive time.
