Hop, serve, win: annual Easter tennis tournament incoming
Entries close tonight, so hop to it if you want to play!
AN ANNUAL family affair full of healthy competition is afoot as players of all abilities take to the court this Easter long weekend.
The St Arnaud Tennis Club will host its biggest event of the year this weekend, one organisers have been looking forward to all summer.
“This is an event people often use to meet up and reconnect, we get a few family reunions,” tournament secretary Sharyn Erwin said.
“It’s our biggest fundraiser of the year and it’s always a lot of fun.
“It’s set up to allow everyone a fair go and enjoy the weekend.”
Run in a round robin set up, players of all abilities are encouraged to sign up and take part in either the Friday, Saturday or Sunday matches.
There are opportunities for either individuals or doubles to come and play at the Melbourne Road courts.
But there’s plenty of different aspects that are sure to attract many.
“We’ve introduced a young blood one-point slam and a raffle that people more than 75km from St Arnaud will automatically be entered in to win a fuel voucher,” Ms Erwin said.
“We know how expensive travel is at the moment.
“We’ve had over 130 entries so far and hope to get more this week.
Anyone wishing to enter is able to until Thursday night.
