ANGLERS took to the Loddon River at Bridgewater at the weekend for the St Arnaud club’s fourth competition of the season.

The 24 keen anglers enjoying ideal fishing conditions and producing some impressive catches.

The field consisted of 11 men, seven ladies and six juniors.

Ivan Wild was first on the board with a solid 43.4cm yellowbelly before David Chapman added two yellowbelly measuring a combined 82.4cm, his biggest stretching to 41.8cm.

Joyce Wild landed a strong 59cm cod, but it was Helen Rigby who stole the show, boating a superb 72cm cod to claim biggest fish of the competition.

Riley Burke secured men’s biggest bag honours with two yellowbelly totalling 87.5cm, including a top fish of 46cm.

Leanne Burke dominated the ladies’ section, landing three yellowbelly measuring an outstanding 113cm combined, her largest fish 41cm, to take ladies biggest bag.

Brent Fenwick rounded out the major awards by winning the secret length prize with two yellowbelly totalling 83cm, his biggest measuring 42cm.

Anglers caught 10 yellowbelly and two cod across the weekend, marking another successful and competitive outing for the St Arnaud Angling Club.
