Group calls for trains back on Mildura line
“And its not only the people of Mildura who have been forgotten, smaller communities such as Ouyen, Birchip, St. Arnaud and Donald have also missed out."

PASSENGER trains returning to the Mildura line would reconnect St Arnaud to bigger centres.
The Rail Revival Alliance is putting pressure on the state government to put trains back on that route.
According to data they’ve collected, Mildura is one of the largest regional communities without a passenger rail service.
President of the Rail Revival Alliance said 2026 was the year for all politicians to step up to the mark and committ to the reintroduction of passenger rail services to Mildura.
“And its not only the people of Mildura who have been forgotten, smaller communities such as Ouyen, Birchip, St. Arnaud and Donald have also missed out,” he said.
“Nearly a billion dollars has been spent on the Mildura rail line over the past ten years and this has only been to the benefit of the freight industry. The line to Mildura is now in excellent condition with rail welding, new ballast and concrete sleepers.
“It says so much that a tourist operator can run a train to Mildura two or three times per year, but VLine seems incapable of doing the same.”
