Winner was Anthony Hargreaves with 38pts, second Troy Heenan 36pts, OCB to B Byrne 36pts, fourth Jamey Soulsby 34pts, 5th Phil Stafford 33pts and 6th Ian Jenkins 32pts. Nearest the pin: 14th Jamey Soulsby.
IT was bitterly cold on Thursday morning when eight old men hit off for St Arnaud’s nine hole competition. Mark McGrath had a respectable 19 points ahead of David Lanyon and Rob Batters on 13 points.
Saturday’s sunshine was much better for the 17 who played a stableford round. John Nevill once again had less hits than his age to score 40 points to take out the St Arnaud Physiotherapy best score of the day.
David Lanyon and Lindsay Baldock were six points behind with David winning the countback. Trevor McDonald played to his handicap to win B grade with 36 points, two shots points better than Tony Coloe on 34.
Nearest the pins were Rob Batters on the 6th, Lindsay Baldock on the 8th, Chris Campbell reached the long par tree 10th and Tony Coloe got the Weirs IGA sponsored 18th.
Ladies ambrose winners were Jenny Lanyon, Trish Hines and Rhonda Pole with 67.7 nett from Brenda Proctor, Chris Goode and Margaret McRae 68.17 nett. Nearest the pins - 6th Chris Goode, IGA 8th Jenny Lanyon.
