THURSDAY’S 9 hole winner was Peter Martin with 18 points one point ahead of the bridesmaid Lindsay Baldock with Tony Coloe nearest the pin on the 18th.

On Saturday, 15 golfers braved the cold and wet to contest a stableford round.

The low handicappers handled the heavy going better than everyone else filling the top three places.

Scott Wright carded a very impressive 39 points to take out the St Arnaud physiotherapy best score of day from Bill Rodger on 38 and David Lanyon on 35. Wright’s round of 39 points equates to a round of two over par while Bill Rodger was three over par which also equates to two less than his age.

Nearest the pins were Sam Postlethwaite on the 6th, Wright was inches away from a hole in one on the 8th,John Goode on the 10th and David Lanyon on the Weirs IGA 18th.

There were four matches played in the singles knockout with Daniel Needs accounting for Barry Batters 5/4. Bill Knights used all his experience to knockover Mark McGrath 3/2.

Rob Harvey held out John Goode to win two up in tight contest and Ernie Scilini had no answers for the in form Bill Rodger. The first match in the 4 BBB knockout competition featured Leigh Hines and Sam Postlethwaite up against Wright/Lanyon combination with Wright and Lanyon comprehensive winners 6/4.

Leader of silver division is Brenda Proctor 89, from Marilyn Knights 92 and Glenda O’Neill 96. For Bronze, Alison Fahey leads with 100, Mary Elliott 105, Lyn Freeman and Chris Batters 111.

Winner of the day’s event was Brenda with 74 nett from Marilyn 75 on a count back from Trish Hines 75 nett. Nearest the pins: Jenny Lanyon 6th, Brenda IGA 8th and Marilyn 18th.

  • LAST Tuesday, 25 players played in the Driscoll Douglas East sponsored veterans golf at Boort, in cool conditions.

The daily event winner in Division 1 was taken out by Richard Gallagher with 36 points from Donald, runner up with 35 points was Peter Sanderson of Wedderburn.

Division two was won by Trevor Allan with 42 points from Wycheproof and John Chandler from Wedderburn was runner up with 37 points.

Nearest the pins 1 st John Headon 9 th Rosalyn Wright 15 th Dianne Johnston. The next round of Vets is at Boort on Monday the 22 nd of June which will be the Kara Kara v Wimmera challenge.
