VOLUNTEERS from the Charlton Golden Grains Museum enjoyed a rewarding day out in Wedderburn last Wednesday.

The group makes a point of regularly visiting other museums and historical attractions, providing an opportunity not only for a social outing but also to gain ideas and insights into how other organisations manage and present their collections.

The first stop was the Wedderburn Historical Records Museum, where Alan Mulraney gave an informative presentation on its record search program.

Volunteers also spent time exploring the extensive photographic collection, which sparked plenty of interest and discussion.

The group then visited the Old Coach House Gallery, which proved to be a highlight of the day.

For some, it was their first visit, and many were impressed by the authenticity of the main shop display, preserved as it was left when the business closed in the 1960s.

Beyond the façade, the scale and variety of other museum displays came as a pleasant surprise.

A short stop at Hard Hill allowed the group to view the recently installed storyboards followed by lunch at the Wedderburn Hotel, rounding out an enjoyable and informative day that combined learning, inspiration and good company.
