ST Arnaud’s beloved pool was a buzz as residents took their last chance for a swim this summer season.
A pool party was a fitting way to celebrate the cool spot before it closed early to continue referbishment works.
The event was a hit with inflatables, big garden games, music, spot prizes, a visit from East Wimmera Health Service’s smoothie bike, fruit platters and a barbecue.
Northern Grampians Shire Council mayor Karen Hyslop said council looked forward to seeing residents enjoying the pool once it reopens in time for the 2026-27 summer season.
“The pool was originally due to close on February 22 but we’ve been lucky enough to enjoy it for an extra week,” she said.
“The pool is a wonderful asset for our community and we look forward to unveiling the revamped facilities before the end of the year.”
While some residents were saddened by losing the historic three-meter diving board, Cr Hyselop said it no longer met Life Saving Victoria’s safety guidelines.
Scheduled works include structural repairs to the pool along with resurfacing and compliance upgrades.
It also includes the construction of a new beach-entry ramp to improve accessibility. Works will also be done to the concourse and surrounds, with the project scope also including additional service installation and underground investigations.
Follow the pool on social media for updates.
