SCC provides update as Charlton fire continues to burn
"For those farming communities where we know harvesting is important for you, please consider the postponing of your paddock work. "We know we've had fires caused by machinery that have been a part of the important work you have to do on your farm, but these conditions really create a significant risk for the starting of fires."
UPDATE: 4.44pm
The State Control Centre has provided an update on the fire that is still not under control near Charlton.
State Control Centre spokesperson David Nugent said as of 3.30pm, the fire had burnt almost 1,800 hectares of land.
"We are just urging people to stay up to date with the right information," he said.
"On these hot and windy days that we're having today and have forecast again for tomorrow, we urge everyone to understand the conditions.
"For those farming communities where we know harvesting is important for you, please consider the postponing of your paddock work.
"We know we've had fires caused by machinery that have been a part of the important work you have to do on your farm, but these conditions really create a significant risk for the starting of fires.
"Hot weather has created severe heatwave conditions and again we urge people to understand that risk for those that might be close to you.
"Stay hydrated, wear light loose clothing and just think about what you're doing on the day to stay cool.
At this time, there are 64 vehicles attending and assisting the fire.

Fire upgraded to watch and act
EARLIER
The watch and act for the Reservoir Parish Road fire has been issued for Charlton, Wooroonook, Yeungroon, Yeungroon East.
This grassfire is travelling in a easterly direction from Charlton St Arnaud Road towards Charlton township.
Spot fires and ember attacks are starting up to 600 metres ahead of the main fire.
Police have closed at road at St Arnaud and other closures will be in place.
