ST ARNAUD police could never have guessed what they were about to find when they pulled over a driver on January 22.

A 28-year-old Sebastapol woman was stopped on the Sunraysia Highway at Carapooee West at around 1.43pm.

Officers noticed the white Ford Laser didn’t have a front number plate and said it had allegedly been travelling 113km/hr.

So they stopped her for a chat.

Police discovered the rear number plate was allegedly false and did not belong to that vehicle and the vehicle’s registration had expired in July 2022.

The driver’s day got worse when she allegedly failed a preliminary roadside drug test and then refused to accompany police to the St Arnaud police station for an oral fluid test.

The woman will appear before the St Arnaud Magistrates Court where she faces the prospect of losing her licence for a minimum of two years and a term of imprisonment.

Burglary and fence cut at transfer station

OVERNIGHT on January 17, offender/s accessed the St Arnaud transfer station, entered a shed and stole a steel trunk, model plane, and a pair of white/green Kookaburra cricket gloves.
