Exhibition explores connections
St Arnaud’s Raillery Hub Gallery will host Damien McNamara, Joanne Linsdell, Julie Andrews and Ri Van Veen in its next exhibition, “Connections”.

OUR artists from varying parts of the state will come together with their different mediums, all with the same goal.
To connect.
St Arnaud’s Raillery Hub Gallery will host Damien McNamara, Joanne Linsdell, Julie Andrews and Ri Van Veen in its next exhibition, “Connections”.
This newest show will showcase paintings, two types of ceramics and woodwork, all with the purpose of exploring how society is linked to its environment, to each other and the materials that can be shaped.
Mr McNamara is an Australian wood artist creating sculptural bowls and vessels that celebrate the natural beauty of imperfect timber. Working under McNamara Woodcrafts, he transforms reclaimed and locally, ethically sourced wood into refined pieces that highlight grain, texture, and the quiet stories held within each fragment.
Ms Linsdell is a Ballarat-based artist whose practice explores our relationship to everyday domestic and industrial objects, re-imagined through drawing, sculpture and ceramics with decorative, personal gestures.
Ms Andrews lives and works as an artist in Castlemaine with a studio practice which encompasses painting, drawing, ceramics and public art. In all her work the concept and the site drive her ideas, often exploring liminal spaces, she responds directly to the surrounding environment and everyday experiences.
Ms Van Veen’s ceramic practice works primarily with Raku and she embraces the intensity and unpredictability of fire, drawing inspiration from vast landscapes and skies through to the intimate patterns of growth, texture and decay.
The exhibition will open on February 14.
