EWHS Staff take icy plunge
Everyone gathered in the hospital’s courtyard as Kristy Hetherington, Brad Robinson, Cassie Pardella, Kim Nguyen, Sharon Williams and Larissa Gretgrix lined up and waited to meet their frozen fate.
STAFF at East Wimmera Health Service’s Wycheproof campus joined the coldest fundraising campaign earlier this month.
Residents enjoyed the show as six staff members froze for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) cause with an ice bucket challenge.
Everyone gathered in the hospital’s courtyard as Kristy Hetherington, Brad Robinson, Cassie Pardella, Kim Nguyen, Sharon Williams and Larissa Gretgrix lined up and waited to meet their frozen fate.
The team raised more than $500 for the cause.
MND is an umbrella term for a group of progressive, neurological disorders that destroy the motor neurons - the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control essential voluntary muscle activity.
The Big Freeze challenge was spearheaded by former AFL footballer and MND sufferer Neale Daniher, who sadly passed away earlier this year.
Fight MND was established in 2014.
More than $157 million has been raised to fast-track clinical trials, discover new drugs, and support essential scientific research.
