Esmore snares title in a quality final
Spectators were treated to a great match, with both bowlers giving their all and producing bowls of real quality throughout.

HEATHER Esmore has held off a spirited challenge to be crowned St Arnaud Country Club’s ladies’ bowls singles champion.
It was a hot contest between Amanda Marland and Esmore.
Spectators were treated to a great match, with both bowlers giving their all and producing bowls of real quality throughout.
The game remained tight from start to finish, neither player giving an inch as the pressure built across the ends.
The club’s minor championship has also been contested members were treated to a tight and entertaining contest.
As has been the case with all club games this season, there was an excellent turnout, with plenty of support around the green for what everyone expected to be a cracker of a match.
Bowlers traded shots for most of the day, neither able to break away as the scoring remained close end after end.
Late in the game, however, Tony Coloe began to edge ahead, building a slight but valuable lead. It proved enough to secure the victory and the title of minor champion.
The club held its triples match between the team of Denis Goode, Graham Shaw and Peter Marland and the combination of Greg Fullarton, Leon Lynch and John Nevill.
As always, there was an excellent turnout, with members and non-members alike coming along to watch and support the players.
The final proved a hotly contested affair, with plenty of pressure applied by Denis, Graham and Peter throughout the match. Despite their strong effort, it wasn’t enough to unsettle the rhythm of Greg, Leon and John, who held their composure and claimed a well-earned victory.
