Editorial: Open and transparent decision making? What a joke
Council decision making will be conducted in an ‘open and transparent forum”. This is Point # 1 of the Northern Grampians Shire Council’s (NGSC) own Public Transparency Policy 2021. Does this council therefore think that the decision relating to who will be the Mayor is NOT one that should be conducted in an open and transparent forum, that is the Council meeting itself. Because last week’s election of Cr Murray Emerson to the role of Mayor until the end of the late Tony Driscoll’s term would have expired on 5th November 2022 is an example of this very issue.
