Community groups get boost
TWELVE groups and not-for-profit organisations have received a share of almost $56,000 in funding through Northern Grampians Shire Council’s 2026 Community Grant and Arts and Culture Grant programs.
TWELVE groups and not-for-profit organisations have received a share of almost $56,000 in funding through Northern Grampians Shire Council’s 2026 Community Grant and Arts and Culture Grant programs.
Four schools have also received $500 apiece from council’s 2026 Creative Education Fund.
Mayor Karen Hyslop said this year’s programs focused on supporting initiatives that strengthened social connection and community belonging; encouraged participation in sport/recreational activity; strengthened community group capacity; enhanced arts and culture visibility across the shire; and activated different places and spaces across the shire.
She said she was pleased to see so many high-quality applicants putting forward projects designed to improve participation, inclusion and connection.
“Supporting local volunteers and community events builds a stronger, more vibrant community,” Mayor Hyslop said.
“The Community Grant and Arts and Culture Grant programs are wonderful and council is thrilled to be able to support the recipients, who provide fantastic services and opportunities for our residents.
“I commend all the grant recipients on their efforts to improve our community and create active, welcoming spaces for people to enjoy. Congratulations on everything you do.”
Local community groups that are going to receive funding are:
St Arnaud Hockey Club - $5000 for new goals
AdvertisementNavarre Primary School - $5000 for a new website
More Than Words Collective - $3534 for community literacy and digital skills program
St Arnaud Raillery Hub - $5000 for creative digital arts program
“Well done also to the schools who were successful in obtaining Creative Education Fund grants - I love hearing about the fantastic projects you have on the books and commend all the staff and students on their hard work,” Mayor Hyslop said.
“I look forward to seeing what amazing projects and ideas applicants put forward next year.”
Schools included in the 2026 Creative Education Fund are:
St Arnaud Primary School - $500 for an art show
St Arnaud Secondary College: $500 for their school production “Come Fly With Me”.
