Charlton Campdraft 'quite the spectacle'
Running over three days, more than 180 competitors travelled from all parts of Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia to take part.

THE Charlton Campdraft Club hosted its biggest event to date last weekend.
Running over three days, more than 180 competitors travelled from all parts of Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia to take part.
The weekend commenced on Friday with a cattle drive where livestock were walked approximately 12km into the grounds
“It created quite the spectacle for locals and competitors alike,” TEYS compliance officer Tahlijia Sheahan said.
Spectators were treated to some fantastic drafting and were also very lucky to get some early Christmas shopping done from stallholders Noah’s Creations and Phoenix Sewing.
“Saturday night was a highlight as we kicked off cocktail hour while watching the best of the best compete in the Open for Open event,” Ms Sheahan said.
“As the sun went down our Saturday night mechanical bull competition kicked off.
“It was an entertaining event which saw the final five be auctioned off in a Calcutta.”
Winnings were shared between the champion and a charity of their choice.
“It was a great night with plenty of laughs to be had,” Ms Sheahan said.
Whilst windy at times, it was perfect campdrafting weather and saw local competitors including Tully Bourke, Sophie Roberts and Matt Hobbs to name a few enter the arena.
Ms Sheahan said it was great to see so many familiar faces taking part
“All the locals should be very proud with how they competed, and it was wonderful to have Nat Bourke as our chief first aider over the weekend,” she said.
Organisers would like to share a “huge thank you” to all the people who helped make the event possible.
“Our generous sponsors, cattle donors, judges, everyone who assisted or offered assistance over the weekend and a special mention to the Bourke family for allowing us to run our campdraft on their property,” Ms Sheahan said
“We would like to thank A Country Shot, OASIS club and Goldfields Catering for ensuring everyone remained fed and caffeinated all weekend and to the Charlton Show Committee for helping man our bar on the Saturday.
Ms Sheahan said an event like this couldn’t go ahead without the “locals who supported us this year and to all competitors who attended the weekend”.
“We are extremely fortunate to have a lot of support around us and we are humble to have some amazing businesses and people who back our club and events,” she said.
“We hope to bring the same family friendly atmosphere back in 2026.”
