Burn outs cost driver $2.7k and 30 day impound
He was questioned in relation to alleged offences of improper use of a motor vehicle and failing to have proper control of a motor vehicle.
ST ARNAUD police became aware of a black ute allegedly performing a burnout on Kings Avenue, St Arnaud on Sunday June 7.
Following investigations, police identified the driver as a 48-year-old St Arnaud man.
He was found and interviewed the following day
He was questioned in relation to alleged offences of improper use of a motor vehicle and failing to have proper control of a motor vehicle.
As a result, the man’s vehicle was impounded for 30 days, at a cost of $2,700 to retrieve the vehicle.
He is expected to appear before the Magistrates’ Court at a later date in relation to the alleged offences.
Police remind motorists that failing to maintain proper control of a vehicle not only places you at risk, but also endangers passengers, pedestrians and other road users.
They said even a momentary lapse in attention can lead to serious consequences.

Drug driver stopped
ON May 29 at around 12.30pm, St Arnaud police stopped a 34-year-
old Charlton man on Dundas Street.
A preliminary oral fluid test allegedly indicated the presence of a drug of dependence. The man was taken to St Arnaud Police Station, where an evidentiary oral fluid test returned a positive result for methylamphetamine or MDMA.
The driver received an immediate 24-hour driving prohibition and is expected to be summonsed to court for the alleged offending.
Failure to stop for police
AT AROUND 11am on June 1, police attempted to stop a blue Nissan ute displaying false registration plates on the St Arnaud–Donald Road. The vehicle failed to stop and drove off at speed.
A second police unit also attempted to stop the vehicle; however, it again failed to stop.
Following further investigation, police have identified the vehicle and driver.
Police are hoping to speak with a Donald man in relation to this incident.
Letterbox thefts
KEYS were stolen from a letterbox on McMahon Street, St Arnaud between 9.45am and 5pm on June 5 after being left for collection.
Attempted burglary
BETWEEN May 31 and June 6, offender(s) attempted to gain entry to a vacant premises on Kings Avenue, St Arnaud. No items were reported stolen. If you have information about any of these incidents, report it directly to police or to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
