Brigade stops suspicious car fire spreading into nearby bushland
They were called to the fire in St Arnaud East about 1.15pm.

ST ARNAUD Fire Brigade volunteers stopped flames spreading to bushland when they tackled a car fire on Sunday.
They were called to the fire in St Arnaud East about 1.15pm.
Captain David Reynolds said when the tanker, ultralight tanker and group forward command vehicle arrived on scene, they had to call in reinforements.
“Upon arrival we found a vehicle which had been burnt out in suspicious circumstances, so Victoria Police was called,” Mr Reynolds said.
“The heat from this fire and proximity to trees saw nearby trees fire affected as well.
“Like a previous incident we attended a couple of weeks ago, based on the amount of damage and low fire activity in the car the fire must have been burning for some significant time prior to us getting there.
“The priority for us was to ensure the the trees were safely dealt with.
“Unfortunately fire affected trees can become very unstable and unpredictable, able to fall at any time, making them a significant risk.
“We cordoned off the area and called upon the specialty services of Forest Fire Management Victoria to deal with the trees.
“Once these experts bought the trees down, we ensured the hotspots were extinguished and we returned to station,” said the brigade captain.

Mr Reynolds encouraged anyone who has any information on the fire to contact St Arnaud police.
Police and fire brigades have again reminded residents to call Triple Zero (000) in the case of an emergency.
