All fired up at Raillery Hub’s ceramics workshop
There were 15 ladies who attended the workshop, with some coming from Ararat, Beaufort, Lexton, Donald, Charlton, Avoca and St Arnaud.

AFTER opening its most recent exhibition, St Arnaud Raillery Hub Gallery welcomed back one of its artists to give people a look behind the curtains on how her work is made.
Ri Van Veen, who has pieces in the “Connections” exhibition, took participants through her craft during a recent Sunday workshop.
There were 15 ladies who attended the workshop, with some coming from Ararat, Beaufort, Lexton, Donald, Charlton, Avoca and St Arnaud.
Each participant created their own art piece under the tutelage of Ms Van Veen.
Raillery Hub Bronwyn McCulloch said participants really enjoyed their time during the workshop.
“Everyone appeared very enthusiastic and happy with their day,” she said.
After the session, Ms Van Veen would then take the work home and it is fired in the Raku method.
This is a traditional Japanese pottery technique that involves firing pottery at high temperatures and then cooling it rapidly in combustible materials like sawdust or paper.
The Hub regularly holds workshops with local and other artists from across the state and country, aiming to cover as many creative interests as possible.
From drawing and paintings to social media tips and tricks, there is sure to be a session or two that will interest anyone.
