Charlton Mens Golf

A busy weekend at the Golf Club, highlighted by the hosting of the Charlton RSL Dinner on Saturday night marking the local fundraising total amount of $100,000.00 for the benefit of the Legacy organisation, raised through the running of the annual Diggers Day event which began in 1935.

This Charity Golf day, fondly known as 'Diggers Day' has been a joint partnership between the Charlton RSL and the Golf Club, and in later years assisted by the Apex Club and more recently the Oasis Club.

Certainly a wonderful achievement for a worthy cause where all funds raised are distributed within the local area.

The Golf activity continued on Sunday morning at the well-attended Golf clinic conducted by Mark Bowd for groups of Juniors, Ladies and Men.

Sunday Stableford results:

The course continues to be dry with plenty of run and John Headon found to be just to his liking, coming in with a very good 39 points, well clear of next best Matt McGurk and Jeff McLoughlan both on 32 points.

Wayne Keenan and Brian Heenan followed on 31 points.

Bill Freeman
